Who needs a massage?

Frankly speaking, you should consider one! Our lives are complex and busy, and can be stressful. Our bodies are capable of inviting and holding unwanted discomfort or pain that results in dysfunction and some kind of disruption in our lives. This could be from a simple injury or something more chronic.

Massage can offer a multitude of avenues to give you back function and relief:

• Improve range of motion
• Enhance sleep quality
• Promote greater energy and improved concentration
• Increase circulation
• Reduce spasms, muscle cramps, and fatigue
• Promote faster recovery from injury
• Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow

I carefully and thoughtfully tailor your massage with a combination of learned techniques:

  • Swedish

We’ve all heard of this type of massage and it’s one of the most common and traditional forms of massage therapy. This technique is used to promote a calming, relaxing sensation throughout, facilitating blood circulation to those muscles in tension. I use flowing, long strokes, kneading and gentle rocking, all within a pressure that is comfortable for you.

  • Deep Tissue

This modality focuses on re-aligning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, and releasing muscle spasms, and fascial adhesions. This therapy is ideal for those who have chronic pain or injury, need postural realignment, have a sedentary lifestyle or job that requires a lot of sitting, or for those who enjoy deeper pressure. This treatment will generally be applied to specific areas of pain and other muscles that may be contributing. I may involve stretching and joint mobilization to help release those associated trigger points (fascial adhesions or built-up scar tissue).

  • Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient Asian bodywork treatment for healing of chronic pain. It is especially effective in releasing tight, painful areas that inhibit movement, allowing for greater range of motion. A smooth tool made of stone is used to release tight fascia and breaks down scar tissue and adhesions. It is extremely effective, and I use it in almost every massage, but it is important to know that it can leave reddening in areas of greater tension that can last up to 4-6 days.

  • Cupping

This treatment involves placing silicone suction cups to lift the skin and muscles to release fascial adhesions that cause chronic pain. It helps facilitate proper blood circulation to those muscles that have gone through heavy training loads, intense emotion or high levels of stress and work-related holding patterns. It is important to know that it can leave reddening in areas of greater tension that can last up to 4-6 days.
